At Fakuma in Friedrichshafen (October 12 to 16, 2026), LEHVOSS is putting the spotlight on a dimension of its Smart Resourcing concept that currently decides who wins orders for many processors: price. In typical projects, customers save 10 to 20 percent on material costs with Smart Resourcing – with no change in quality, security of supply, or the technical service they are used to.
This is made possible by a core principle of Smart Resourcing: LEHVOSS draws on a portfolio of proven, mature compound formulations built up over decades. What has proven itself in countless applications in the market does not have to be redeveloped for every project. That reduces development effort and project lead times – and this advantage goes straight into the price. The price advantage is created not in the material, but in development.
“For Lehmann & Voss, this is a new business field – not a change of course,” says Harald Hunke, Commercial Director Europe, LEHVOSS Compounds. In the high-end segment of high-performance compounds (LUVOCOM®), the company is the global leader and will continue to expand this position. In engineering and recyclate-based compounds (LUVOTECH® and LUVOTECH® eco), LEHVOSS has likewise achieved a leading position in recent years. This is precisely what the new offering draws on: the formulation portfolio that makes attractively priced solutions possible today is the product of decades of highly demanding development work.
“Our customers are facing tough international competition. They are fighting – and we are fighting at their side,” Hunke continues. “That is why we offer proven compound quality at prices that hold their own in global comparison. This applies to running applications, where switching materials now pays off, as well as to new projects – where our customers decide for themselves whether the advantage goes into the price or into better material properties for the same budget.”
Blowing agents: less weight, shorter cycles, lower energy costs
Just how far Smart Resourcing extends into the processing stage is demonstrated by the blowing agent masterbatches of the LUVOBATCH® product family. In injection molding applications – such as door panels or luminaire housings – they reduce component weight by up to 25 percent without compromising properties such as impact resistance or stability. Added to this are two effects that show up directly in the cost calculation: shorter cycle times, allowing more parts to be produced on the same machine, and a possible reduction in processing temperature – and thus in energy costs.
Smart Resourcing offers customers multiple benefits
- Attractive prices: 10 to 20 percent savings on material costs
- Materials with exactly the performance characteristics required – no over- or under-specification
- Secure and new sourcing solutions
- Diversification of the supplier portfolio
Planning reliability through consistently high quality standards and dependable delivery – globally.
Product highlights and exhibits at the trade fair booth
The Compounds business unit of LEHVOSS will once again present itself at Fakuma 2026 as a pioneer of innovative polymer solutions in the spirit of Smart Resourcing. The trade fair presence centers on real-world applications that impressively demonstrate the performance of the LUVOTECH®, LUVOTECH® eco, and LUVOCOM® grades used.
Exoskeletons: attractively priced high-performance materials for high quality standards and mechanical stability
Humanoid robots and modern exoskeletons are among the dynamically growing applications that are increasingly shaping the world of work. Using a current exoskeleton, LEHVOSS demonstrates its comprehensive expertise in structural materials and tribologically tailored material solutions. The intelligently designed components are made of metal replacement materials and tribologically modified compounds. Some of the materials are also based on industrial recyclates.
Drones: technically sophisticated materials for cost-optimized lightweight solutions
Another trade fair highlight is an autonomous agricultural drone whose components are largely made from LEHVOSS compounds. The application exemplifies how technically high-grade materials can be combined with economical material solutions. At the same time, it underlines the performance of the compounds in demanding lightweight applications and in the functional integration of complex components.
The performance of modern drones is largely determined by the efficiency of their propellers. With specially developed high-performance compounds, LEHVOSS Compounds offers innovative material solutions for propeller blades that combine low weight with exceptional strength and stiffness. The carbon fiber (CF) compounds are based on LEHVOSS's proven XCF technology. The result: propeller blades with a flexural strength of up to 527 MPa and a flexural modulus of 31 GPa. At the same time, the components are up to 50% lighter than aluminum and 43% lighter than comparable PA66-GF50 solutions. Thanks to the significant weight reduction and high structural strength, drone manufacturers can increase flight performance, reduce energy consumption, and extend range. In addition, the materials contribute to lower noise emission and improved fatigue strength of the propellers.
Here, too, LEHVOSS demonstrates its exceptional expertise in structural materials, and in CF compounds in particular. In addition to classic short-fiber CF compounds and XCF compounds, the range includes long-fiber CF compounds and rCF (recycled fibers).
Work light: sustainable high-performance compounds for the circular economy
A further exhibit is a work light made of LUVOTECH® eco TC, the sustainable product line of thermally conductive plastics. With a thermal conductivity of up to 18 W/mK and a carbon footprint reduced by up to 60% compared with virgin material, these materials are ideally suited to demanding applications in the lighting industry and in thermal management. The sustainable compounds – produced from mechanically recycled raw materials using 100% green electricity – help companies meet the requirements of the European Green Deal and future circular economy regulations today. At the same time, they enable resource-saving, economical, and high-performing product solutions for modern technical applications.
